The English Primary Schools' Chess Association This section is here to help promote some of the chess events organised by EPSCA (The English Primary Schools' Chess Association).
As its name suggests, EPSCA helps encourage chess players of primary school age (up to 11).
Below are brief summaries of some of the events and competitions you might be interested in.
The links then take you to pages explaining what to expect if you are interested in taking part.

EPSCA Rapidplay
The EPSCA Rapidplay is a good competition for primary school children to take part in.
It is a one day competition, held in Liverpool, in January each year.
It has a section for novices and more advanced players in each age group from under 8, to 11.
For more skillful players, results in the top section count towards selection for the England Under 11 team trials.

National Primary Schools Chess Team Championship
Would you like to play for your school's Under 11 or Under 9 chess team?
This is a very popular competition.
Your team would include 6 players, and meet teams from schools in other parts of the country.

England Under 11 Team Trials
If you are in the under 10 or under 11 age group, would you like to join the England Junior Squad, and play chess for England?
There are a number of qualifying events you can compete in.
The England selectors will invite players who do well at one or two of those events to the England team trials.
If you play well at the trials, you join the England Junior Squad.

Team Plate Competition
School teams can also compete in the Team Plate competition.
This event is played over one weekend each year and your team can compete at one of three venues.
