For regular visitors

A number of these pages have been set up to make it as easy as possible for regular visitors to keep up-to-date with what's going on in the chess community.

Unlike most websites, this one has twin news pages:

  • Junior news is dedicated to topics of special interest to chess players aged under 18,
  • General news deals with topics that may interest any player.

  • There is also an events calendar page, listing events you might be interested in.

There are links to all these pages at the top of the left hand side of this page, and they are linked together in the same way.

An internet site in two parts!

People of all ages play chess, so when I first set this site up I knew it should help and encourage players of all ages.  I also knew I wanted a separate news page just for players aged up to 18 - young players deserved their own news page.

From that starting point of a website with two news pages, the site has grown into two connected (but independent) sections.  The Junior part of the site (where you are now), is intended to be of particular interest to players aged up to 18.  The General part of the site is intended to suit the needs of players of any age.

The two parts of the site are separate, but the links to the two news pages (Junior NEWS and General NEWS ) are right next to each other as you can see from the top of the left hand column of this page.  That should make it easy for you to keep up to date with both - if you want to.

To make it easy for you to get from one part of the site to the other, if you are in the junior part of the site, clicking Staffs chess at the top of any page will take you to the news page in the general part of the site.  Similarly, if you are in the general part of the site, clicking Junior Chess at the top of any page will bring you back to the junior news page.

Two internet addresses

Depending on your main interest, this website has two internet addresses:

www.junior.staffordshirechess.org.uk

will bring you here - the home page of junior chess.  Alternatively, if your interest is mainly chess for players of all ages, you may prefer

www.staffordshirechess.org.uk

That will take you directly to the general home page.

You can also find links to everything listed here at the top of the page.  Those links are there to make the whole site easily available for you.

Novices

For novice chess players, the Introduction section of this site might interest you.
